James E. "Jimmy" Jones

Saltville, VA

James E. "Jimmy" Jones, age 86, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He was a lifelong mechanic. At the beginning of his career, he worked beside his dad at Chilhowie Tractor. He later opened Jones Repair Shop where he specialized in farm equipment. Jimmy was a United States Army Veteran. He enjoyed farming and spending time with his family. Jimmy was a loving husband, father, brother, and proud grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eubert and Myrtle Jones; and two siblings, William "Boss" Jones and Cordia Davenport.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years of marriage, Lucy Pruitt Jones; his son, James Jones, Jr. and wife Melissa; daughter, Jennifer Johnson and husband Joe; three sisters, Frances Henderson and husband Rudy, Lou Vivian Davidson, and Shirley Blevins and husband Bill; four grandchildren, Hunter Jones (Aspen), Walker Jones, Al Johnson, and C.B. Johnson; one great-grandson, Parker Jones; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Sonia Hall and Lisa Johnson for being excellent caregivers. They also want to give a thanks to special neighbors Randy and Tracy Gobble.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 9, 2022, at the Mount Rose Cemetery Mausoleum with Pastor Mike Burton and Pastor Stan Dunham officiating. There will be military rites rendered by the United States Army Honor Guard. Everyone is asked to please meet at the cemetery.
