James E. Woodward

James E. Woodward, age 93, passed away on Monday, August 7, 2023 at Valley Health and Rehab. He was a bus driver for 37 years driving in both Smyth and Washington County. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Sylvie Jackson Woodward; and his son, Melvin Woodward.

He is survived by his four sons, Boyd Woodward and wife Connie, Ralph Woodward and wife Becky, Jerry Woodward and wife Ann, and Walt Woodward and fiancé Renee Henegar; three daughters, Janet Woodward, Kathy Frye, and Susie Pickle; one sister, Mable Price; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 11, 2023 at the Woodward Family Cemetery with Rev. Stacy Evans officiating. Everyone is please asked to meet at Henderson Funeral Home between 10- 10:30 a.m. prior to the procession to the cemetery.
