Jane Wright Greer, age 81, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at Valley Health Care in Chilhowie, Virginia.

Jane was a loving and wonderful sister, aunt, and friend whose kind and caring nature touched the lives of those around her. Family held a special place in her heart, and she treasured the time spent with those she loved.

Jane was a hardworking and talented woman who enjoyed a long career with the Virginia Department of Transportation, where she worked as a draftsman until her retirement. Outside of work, she found happiness in some of life's simpler pleasures. She loved working in her garden and watching the fruits of her labor come to life. She also had a love for antiquing and enjoyed searching for those special pieces that carried a little history and a story of their own.

Most importantly, Jane was a Christian woman whose faith remained an important part of her life. She leaves behind many wonderful memories and a life well lived. Her loving spirit will be deeply missed by her family and all those fortunate enough to have known and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James David Greer; and her parents, Brack and Ruby Wright.

Left to cherish her memory is her sister, Carol Delp and husband Charles; sister-in-law, Sue Cowan; brother-in-law, Earnest Greer; nieces, Robin, Jodi, Misti, Mara, Tina, and Emily; nephews, Eli, Sam, and TJ.

A graveside service will be conducted at Mount Rose Cemetery at 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2026 with Pastor Scott Spence officiating. Everyone is asked to please meet at the cemetery.
