Doris Jane Orr, age 73, died in her sleep at her Rich Valley home on Sunday, September 11, 2022.

Jane's passions included teaching children in Sunday school at Riverside United Methodist Church, teaching kindergarten, supporting the Rich Valley Council of Churches, and working throughout the year on projects for the Rich Valley Fair. She loved holiday traditions, especially celebrating Christmas and holding an Easter-egg hunt for community children.

Survivors include her sister, Betty Jo; her brother, Jerry; her sister-in-law, Cindy Burkett; and her church family.

Penny Jones and Xan and Clayton Buchanan were dear friends who helped her however they could and shared many an enjoyable meal with her. She was a strong advocate of Susan Taylor's work with community children. Tammy Gillespie provided her many an entertaining phone call, and Kim Collis was her go-to driver for a variety of activities.

Another passion of Jane's was caring for Luke and Cole Buchanan, whom she considered members of her family. She loved their families as well.

A graveside service will be held in Riverside Cemetery on Tuesday, September 13, at 3 p.m. with Pastor Mack Blevins officiating. Pallbearers will be: Josh Buchanan, Luke Buchanan, Cole Buchanan, Chris Bralley, Mark Burkett, Zac Nunley and Hal Campbell. Honorary pallbearers will be the other members of her Riverside family.
