Janet Ruth Roberts Harris, age 91, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at Valley Heath and Rehab in Chilhowie, Va. Janet was born on March 2, 1933, in Saltville, Va. to the late Hardy and Myrtle Gillespie Roberts.

Janet was a Godly woman and loved attending Church at Roberts Chapel United Methodist Church in Broadford. She worked at Rich Valley High School cafeteria for 28 years. Janet loved to cook and spend time with her family. She was a very selfless woman and was always worrying about everyone else.

Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Gordon Brown Harris; sister, Mildred Petty; brothers, George, Gene, Roy, Fred, and Bob Roberts.

Left to cherish her memory is one daughter, Shelva Paschal and husband Kent of Asheboro, N.C.; one son, Tommy "Tom Cat" Harris of Saltville, VA; grandsons, Michael and Jonathan Paschal; step-grandson, Kevin Paschal; great grandchildren, Keyleigh, Tanner, Carson, Noah, Levi, Haven, Ocean, and Loch Paschal; great-great grandchildren, Adalie, Grayson, and Braden Paschal.

Funeral services for Janet Harris will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Henderson Funeral Home in Saltville, Va. with Pastor Ray Petty, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:00 prior to the service. Burial will follow at Riverside Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Paschal, Jonathan Paschal, Bobby Crabtree, Chris Arnold, Brian Chapman, and Jeff Campbell.
