Janie Elizabeth Williams Terry, age 67, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, April 23, 2026.

Janie was born on November 22, 1958, to the late Everette Williams and Martha Williams. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose family meant everything to her. Janie was known for her kind heart, selfless nature, and willingness to help anyone in need at any time.

A hardworking woman throughout her entire life, Janie was no stranger to labor and dedication. She worked in tobacco for much of her life and carried with her a strong work ethic that was admired by all who knew her.

Janie shared a beautiful and lasting bond with her husband, and the two were truly inseparable. They did everything together, creating a lifetime of cherished memories side by side.

She found joy in life's simple pleasures, especially reading, sewing, and making quilts with loving hands. She dearly loved her fur baby, Zoey, and her pet bird, both of which brought her much happiness. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren, whom she loved deeply and treasured beyond measure.

Janie will be remembered as a happy, down-to-earth woman whose love for her family was endless. Her warmth, kindness, and gentle spirit will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sisters, Diane Hamm, Lucy Williams, Drucey Williams; brother, Billy Ray Williams; and two grandchildren, Toni Plummer, and John Terry, Jr.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 47 years of marriage, Richard Terry; her children, Richard Terry and Wife Amanda, John Terry and wife Alice, Lucy Terry, Nellie Plummer and husband Scott; Everette Terry and wife Laura; siblings, Mary Jane Fortune and husband James, Patty Ann Hamm and husband Randy, Chrisy Handcock and husband Mikey; sister-in-law, Mary Williams; thirteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; special fur baby, Zoey; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 27, 2026, at Henderson Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Cuddy officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 12 until 2 p.m. prior to the service. The burial will follow at the Terry Family Cemetery with Scott Plummer, Jimmy Fortune, Roy Terry, Everette Terry, Caleb Terry, Cody Terry, Chris Cline, and Zach Mathena serving as pallbearers.
