Jeffrey Wayne Dinsmore, Sr.
Saltville, VA
Jeffrey Wayne Dinsmore, Sr., age 76, of Saltville, VA, a beloved husband, father, brother, and papa, passed away on April 29, 2024, at Johnston Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was born on November 30, 1947, in Smyth County to the late Roy and Effie Dinsmore. Throughout his life he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved watching old westerns, especially those with John Wayne in them. He was a retired mechanic from Emory and Henry College. In his free time, he enjoyed fixing and working on small engines.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brothers, Gene, Dennis, Curtis, Charles, Mike, Frank, Sammy, Robert, Roy, and Johnny; his sisters, Gladys Robinson, Mary Taylor, Dot Nichols, Cheryl Pizzaro, Jean Dinsmore, and June Dinsmore; his daughter, Barbara Robbins; son, Michael Smith; and granddaughter, Brittany Williams.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 38 years, Freda Gates Dinsmore; his sons, Allen Dinsmore (Tammy), Steven Smith, and Jeff Dinsmore (Kay); daughters, Leslie Williams (Frankie), and Tina Olinger (Lewis); son-in-law, Russell Robbins; sisters, Lois Doane (Buster) and Terry Brown; and brother, Donnie Dinsmore; 12 grandchildren, Jadon and Kayla Dinsmore, Patricia Waddell, Stephanie Barker, Stacey Williams, Tristen and Paige Olinger, Madison Trivitt, Austin Robbins, Cody Smith, Colton and Landon Dinsmore; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Cathy Barrett (Neal) and Diane Allison; one brother-in-law, Con Gates; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved sidekick his dog, Gypsy.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Pam Prater who went above and beyond her duties.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at 7 p.m. at Henderson Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Frye officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 5 until 7 p.m. prior to the service. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 3 at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Wayne Tolbert, Lewis Olinger, Gary Waddell, Noah Trivitt, Russell Robbins, and George Norris will be serving as pallbearers.
