Jerry L. Moore Jerry Moore, of Palmetto, passed away February 5, 2021 in Bradenton, FL at the age of 85. Jerry was born in Chatham Hill, VA to William C. Sr. and Georgia (Orr) Moore. Jerry spent his early years on the family farm growing up surrounded by his large family. After graduating Rich Valley High School in Rich Valley, VA, Jerry entered the United States Army, where he served his country as a Military Police Officer. In 1959 Jerry met the love of his life, Brenda while stationed at Fort Sheridan, IL. In 1961 they were married, eventually moving to Brantford, Ontario. In Canada Jerry worked as an injection molding engineer for S.C. Johnson Wax. It was here in Southern Ontario that he and Brenda began to raise their two sons, Greg and Tim. Many warm family memories consist of camping, picnicking, travelling, exploring beaches and parks from Northern Ontario to the Blue Ridge Mountains and eventually Florida. Jerry loved being surrounded by his family and close friends. He was warm and always sincere, and could make friends with people he had just met by engaging them in conversation and finding common interests. After several years of vacationing in Florida, in 1977 the family decided to pursue the next chapter in their life and relocated to Manatee County, Florida. On his property in Myakka, Jerry had virtually his own little farm, where he raised almost every kind of farm animal known to man, as well as an impressive garden and small citrus grove. Jerry accepted a position in the Plastics Division of Tropicana Products, where he worked until his retirement. Jerry was an avid reader, Military History, Political Thrillers and Westerns were his favorites. With that said, Jerry's passion and main interest was his family. In addition to his parents, Jerry was predeceased by siblings, William C. Moore, Jr., Robert Moore, Ruth Carter, Bruce Moore, Vance Moore, Mack Henry Moore and Willis Moore. Jerry is survived by his wife. Brenda; sons, Greg Moore (wife, Tracy Acquaro Moore) and Tim Moore of Bradenton; grandsons, Garrett Moore and Clayton Moore; great grand-daughters, Adalynn and Anneliese Moore; his sister, Jean Bise (husband, Otis) of Chilhowie, VA and brother, Don (wife, Wanda) of Rich Valley, VA; many nieces and nephews as well as longtime friends that he thought of as family. A private family visitation will be held in Bradenton. Jerry will be laid to rest in Virginia. There will be a family visitation at D.R. Henderson Funeral Home, Saltville, Virginia from 12:00 to 1:30PM on Sunday, February 14th, with Graveside Services following at Ridgedale Cemetery, Chatham Hill, Virginia.
