Saltville, VA Jody Harper Orr, surrounded by her family, passed peacefully into Heaven on May 31,2022, at JCMC. Jody was born in Saltville, VA to Archie & Eva Harper. She was raised in both Rockville, MD and Saltville, VA. Jody is preceded in death by her first husband, Clayborne Campbell Olinger Jr.; her parents, Eva & Archie F. Harper Jr.; her grandparents, Mary & Archie F. Harper Sr., and Carrie & John W. Johnson; her in-laws, Wanda & CC "Preacher" Olinger Sr.; father-in-law, Albert Archie Orr; and her sister-in -law Karen Olinger Holmes Jody is survived by her husband Larry; her children; Stacey (Dewey) Neece, Sheena (Matt) Henderson, Vicki (Brian) Peters, and Aaron Orr; her grandchildren, Lexie, Lacey, Emily, Hunter, Molly, Isabella, Joslyn, Brody, Axl, Alex, Matt, and Dru; and great granddaughter Addi ; her mother-in-law, Mabel F. Orr; her aunt, Betty Griffits; brothers-in-law, Mark Holmes, Bud (Linda) Olinger, Archie Orr, & Ronald (Janice) Orr; many nieces and nephews & a plethora of amazing cousins ; special friends, Jackie & Howard Chapman, Sierra Davenport, and Monica & Gabe Johnson along with their families. She loved each and every one of you with her whole heart. Jody attended Chilhowie Christian Church and was one of the founding members of the Cowboy Church Service. Growing up her family instilled a love of horses in her that would continue growing, expanding, and changing all her life. Jody had two great loves of her life: CC Olinger whom she was married to for 41 years. Together they rode both steel horses and live ones too. They settled into life on their little farm Double SLO, where they raised horses and daughters' side by side. Their greatest joy in life was watching their daughters' become women and starting their own families. Attending parties, grandparent lunches, & sporting events were their greatest joys. Connecting with Larry again after several decades brought a spark back into Jody's eye we had not seen for a while. Their love grew fast and together they rode even faster on their steel horses. In loving him she gained two more children and a motorcycle family who would see her through till the end. Together with their crew they traveled thousands of miles in the name of wind therapy. Supporting causes and folks along the way as they felt lead. Jody was never one to meet a stranger - often making a point of stopping along her adventures just to chat with others. She worked at Scholle IPN for many years. She worked at the front office as their Office Manager. She greeted everyone who entered as though they were coming into her home. Her favorite time of year was always the Christmas Parties. For many years she was associated with Morgan - McClure Motorsports and absolutely adored HER BOYS! Racing of all sorts ran deep in heart. Her years spent with all of them meant very much to her. Her community involvement in the Rich Valley Fair and Horse Show as first a spectator, then a rider and finally as a presenter/awarder was truly, a most special time of year for her! She sponsored the Rescue Rider Race in honor of CC. And looked forward this year to helping with the Barrel Races. Jody started her Annual CC "Rider" Olinger Memorial Motorcycle Poker Run in 2017 to honor CC. Using this platform as a way to support the athletic works and accomplishments of students in both the Chilhowie and Saltville communities. From Softball to Baseball to Cheer to Volleyball to Archery she believed wholeheartedly that sports should be a right afforded all children for the betterment of their future. Even starting a scholarship in the name of young cancer survivor who inspired her so very much. The Miranda McGlocklin Award for Courage & Excellence in Adversity. She left us with three things to pass along: "I appreciate everything you have done for me and my family, I love you and put God first" FAITH OVER FEAR & DONADAGOHVI In lieu of flowers: Jody has requested that money be donated to her Annual CC RIDER OLINGER Memorial Poker run that she had hoped to and will now be turned into a 501c3 charity or to her faith community Chilhowie Christian Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 3, 2022 at Chilhowie Christian Church with Pastor Frank Branson, Pastor Justin May, and Pastor Michael Klumpp officiating. The burial will follow at Mount Rose Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Thursday evening at the church from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. prior to the Cowboy Church Service that will start at 8 p.m. Those attending the Funeral Service on Friday are asked to meet at the Church between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. prior to the service.
