John Ire Griffey

John Ire Griffey, age 79, passed away at his home on Tuesday, July 18, 2023. John was born on December 14, 1943 to the late, Arch and Lula Griffey. He loved coon hunting, collecting knives and hats. Including his parents, he was also preceded by his son, Johnny Griffey; brothers, Cecil Curtis, William, Henry, George, Archie and Ben Griffey; sisters, Sarah Barker, and Mary Jane Griffey; and grandson, Alex Yates.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 40 years, Judy Harris Griffey; daughters, Diana Casey and husband Rocky, Donna Helton and husband Greg, and Amy Saltz; sons, Tony Griffey and wife Lenora, and David Saltz and wife Cathy; sister, Ruth Cregger, 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his special fur baby, "Berta".

Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at Henderson Funeral Home with Pastor Bobby Lloyd officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7:00 p.m. prior to the service. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 21, 2023 at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Saltville, Va.
