Johnny Jackson Thomas, age 81, passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. He was born in Washington County to the late James and Bessie Thomas. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Johnny leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and warm-hearted spirit that touched the lives of all who knew him. He had a heart that knew no bounds, overflowing with love and compassion for all of those around him. His generosity knew no limits, and his unwavering support for his family and friends was a true testament to his character. Johnny was passionate about collecting antiques, he always made frequent trips to the flea markets. He had various antiques that he had acquired over the years. Besides being an antique collector, he was also an avid coon hunter who enjoyed listening to bluegrass music.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, five sisters; and his great-granddaughter, Hayden Thomas.

Left behind to cherish his memory is his wife of 55 years, Carolyn Hayden Thomas; his son, David Thomas and wife Lisa; two grandchildren, Amanda Doane and husband Jamie, Justin Thomas and wife Heather; four great-grandchildren, Colton Doane, Carly Doane, Cammie Doane, and Bricen Thomas; brother-in-law, Don Bott; special niece, Regina Frye; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 4, 2023 at Henderson Funeral Home with Pastor Wade Kestner, and Rev. Rodney Olinger officiating. The burial will follow at the Elizabeth Cemetery in Saltville. The family will be receiving friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
