Saltville, Va. I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth have passed away, and the sea is no more. Revelation 21:1 Jon K. Griffin, age 46, passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2022 from complications of covid-19. Jon was a 1994 graduate of Northwood High School. After high school, he received a basketball scholarship to attend Concord University in West Virginia where his team was inducted into the hall of fame. He received a master's degree from Columbus State University where he was an assistant basketball coach. Jon's teaching career was focused in special education and he was very involved with his students and always fought for the underdog. He never met a stranger and always cared about the other guy. Jon is survived by his parents, Jay and Marti Griffin; daughter, Aubrey Morgan Griffin; wife, Stacy Green Griffin; step children, A. J. and Aiyira; brother, Jayson (Courtney) Griffin; nephews, Brier, Tyler, and Jackson; several aunts, uncles, and cousins. A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Allison Gap First Church of God with pastor Jeremy Dunn officiating.
