Joy Ellen Hayden Parris, age 65, passed away unexpectedly on June 30, 2025. She was born on June 8, 1960, in Saltville, Virginia. Joy was a graduate of R.B. Worthy High School in Saltville. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and daughter who cared deeply for her family and friends. Joy had a caring heart and was always more concerned about others than herself. She was a quiet person, but she was also strong-willed and stood her ground when it mattered. If you were around her you couldn't leave the room without a smile. Joy was a hard worker and was employed with General Dynamics for over 20 years. Outside of work, she loved doing crafts and was talented at creating and even reselling some of her items. She enjoyed cooking and was known for being very good at it. One of Joys favorite things to do was spending time outdoors camping and fishing with her husband, Calvin, and son Destin. She will be missed by all of her family, and many dear friends.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 30 years of marriage, Calvin Parris; her son, Destin Parris; mother, Lillian Hayden; siblings, Michael Hayden (Karen), Susan Widener, Virgie May Hayden, and Marvin Hayden (Angela); step siblings, Sonya Rhea, and Michelle Thompson; two nieces, Kelly Hayden, and Chelsea Hayden; nephew, Alan Hayden; and mother-in-law, Nell Parris.

Funeral services for Joy will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at Henderson Funeral Home with Evangelist Freddie Canter officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 5 until 7 p.m. prior to the service. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Elizabeth Cemetery in Saltville, Virginia.
