Joyce Ruth Joannou

Joyce Ruth Joannou, age 85, gained her angel wings on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at Johnston Memorial Hospital. She was born in Saltville Virginia on June 6, 1938 to the late Blaine and Pauline Null. Joyce was a loving wife, mother, and nannie. Joyce's greatest joy in life was her family, especially her precious grandchildren. She was not only a beloved family member but also a faithful Christian who touched the hearts of those around her with her kindness and unwavering faith. She lived a life guided by her strong Christian values, always offering a helping hand and a warm smile to anyone in need. Her legacy of love, compassion, and faith will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends. Joyce's journey to heaven has begun, and her memory will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Including her parents, she was also preceded in death by her two sons, Ricky and Jeffrey Cardwell; her sister, Peggy Armstrong; and brother-in-law, Earl Thomas

Left behind to cherish her memory is her husband of 53 years of marriage, John Joannou; her son, Johnny Joannou and wife Kristie; daughter, Whitney Robinson and husband Chad; seven grandchildren, Travis Cardwell, Rachel Prater and fiancé Matt, Sarah Robinson, Ben Robinson, Jacob Robinson, Bethany Joannou and fiancé Gage, and Blaine Joannou; two nieces, Vickie Worley and husband Jeff, Carlene Goff and husband Bryon; nephew, Eddie Hayden and wife Regenia; three sisters-in-law, Maria Catron (Landon), Lillian McDermott and Patricia Thomas; special friends, Inga Robinson, Brenda Hancock, and Katie Parks; also, her church family at Midway Memorial Chapel.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 18, 2023 at Mount Rose Cemetery with Rev. Joe Doane officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 5 until 7 p.m. on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at Midway Memorial Chapel. Jacob Robinson, Ben Robinson, Blaine Joannou, Gage Hogston, Travis Cardwell, and Matt Cobb will be serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Tom Chapman, Jimmy Doane, Ken Robinson, and Men of Midway Chapel Memorial.
