Judy Darlene Keith Barrett, age 73, went to be with the Lord on June 28, 2026. When Judy was able, she attended the Saltville Church of the Nazarene.

Judy was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, sister-in-law, and friend. She was thoughtful, generous, and patient. Judy’s strong will helped her overcame many struggles in her life on this Earth. She did not walk in this life, but that did not stop her from doing the things that she loved. She was always present for her family and attended almost all family gatherings. Her family loves her dearly and are blessed to call her wife, mother, sister, aunt, sister-in-law, and friend. Despite her situation, Judy had a wonderful sense of humor, and her smiles and laughter were evidence of that.

Judy loved listening to country music, watching TV. Some of her favorites were soap operas, Wheel of Fortune, American Idol, and The Voice. Judy absolutely loved the Dallas Cowboys. She watched their games no matter what. Many of her friends gifted her Dallas Cowboys merchandise, which she proudly displayed in her room.

Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Charles James Barrett; her mother, Beatrice Keith; brothers, Larry Dean “Bo” Keith, Arthur Sanders “San” Keith, and Robert Lee “Bobby” Keith; sister, Shirley Keith Carter; brother-in-law, Carl K. Carter; niece, Mitzie Carter Greer; nephew, Charles C. Taylor; and sister-in-law, Linda Carol Keith.

She is survived by her daughter, Belinda Dawn Barrett; sister, Pat Taylor (Millard); nieces, Suzanne Carter Abramson (Markus), Hayley Keith, April Taylor (Nicole), Sonya Farris (David), and Nickie Asher (Dan); nephews, Ernest William Greer Sr., Kris Keith (Sarah) and Bryan Taylor; great nephew, Ernest William Greer Jr.; sister-in-law, Betty Jo Keith, and several other great nieces and nephews.

Judy’s family would like to thank the staff at Valley Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for their dedication to providing loving care. A special thank you to Buck Sawyer for not only helping take care of Judy, but for being her friend. He always checked in on Judy and made her laugh and smile. She loved their Dallas Cowboys banter. The family would also like to thank the many friends that reached out to the family during this time. A very special thank you to Roger Cardwell for being a faithful friend to Judy and to the family. During Judy’s 4 ½ years at Valley, he visited with her multiple times per week and made sure she was stocked up on her favorite snacks and Sprite.

During this last year several amazing friends made it possible for Judy to attend family gatherings and her brother Bobby’s funeral. When it became too difficult for the family to transport Judy, these wonderful friends helped transport her from Valley to her niece’s home in Saltville for family gatherings and then back to Valley. It was so important to Judy and her family that she was present as often as possible. Thank you so much to Jim Cardwell, Jeff Land, Karen Clear, Tim Henry, Kyle Clark, Bailey King, and Sarah Gillespie for making these moments with Judy possible these last few months.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at Henderson Funeral Home with Pastor Barry Loupe officiating. Burial will follow at Elizabeth Cemetery in Saltville, Va. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00p.m. prior to the service. Those serving as pallbearers will be Markus Abramson, Ernest Greet, Sr., John Carter, Gordon Carter, Roger Cardwell, Tim Henry, and Buck Sawyer.  Honorary pallbearers will be Ernest Greer, Jr., Kris Keith, Bryan Taylor, Dane Keith, and the Saltville Church of the Nazarene Congregation.
