June Marie Buchanan Farris Saltville, VA June Marie Buchanan Farris, age 96, was the daughter of the late Mary Ellen Cullop Call and Charles H Call of Saltville, VA. She was born in Hemphill, West Virginia on March 22, 1925, and died on Friday, January 28, 2022, at Valley Health Care in Chilhowie, VA. She was a Gold Star mother when her middle son died in Vietnam in 1968. As broken-hearted as she was, she managed to pull herself together and continue raising her youngest son, Bill, and caring for Bob's family in North Carolina. Folks who were privileged to share her chocolate pies and jam cakes were in for a treat. She took pride in cooking great food and keeping a sparkling house. For years she petted and indulged many chihuahuas, especially her last one named Tippy. Later she became enamored with cats and gave everyone a name. She is preceded in death by her husband, Blake W. Farris and son Blake W. Farris, Jr. Those left to share her memories are Bob and Brenda Farris in Kannapolis, NC; Bill Farris in Rock Spring, GA; grandchildren, Rob Farris and Ben Farris of Kannapolis, NC, Lindsay and Jarrett Benson of Knoxville, TN, and Angela Call of Abingdon, VA; great-grandchildren, Ava Caroline Farris of Kannapolis, NC, and Connor, Kenzie and Colin Benson of Knoxville, TN; special grandchild, Chase Cerney who asked Junie if she could be his grandmother after his own had passed away. She was a special, extra, mother to Kim and Chuck Cerney in Knoxville, TN and TK and Terry Barnett in Clinchburg, VA.; nieces and nephews, Carol McAllister of Mobile, AL., David Anderson and wife Glenna of Roanoke, VA, Betsy Bush and husband Larry of Houston, TX, Stacey Bush Lyon of Houston, TX, Linda Farris of Roanoke, VA, Karen Bartek and husband Bruce of Richmond, VA. Special care givers who loved Junie and called her mommy are Tony and Angela Delp of Saltville, VA. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 31, 2022, at Mount Rose Cemetery with Pastor Stan Dunham officiating. Everyone is asked to please meet at the cemetery.
