Obituary

Saltville, Virginia

Karla J. Hayden Taylor, age 56, passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Bristol Regional Medical Center, Bristol, Tennessee

Karla was a devoted and compassionate CNA who dedicated 38 years of faithful service to Valley Rehab and Nursing in Chilhowie, Virginia, where she was still proudly working. Her gentle spirit, strong work ethic, and genuine love for those she cared for touched countless lives throughout the community. Karla was a saved and born again Christian who deeply loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a member of the Plasterco Church of God and lived her life as a reflection of her faith. She especially loved shopping, and nothing brought her greater joy than finding little treasures for her grandchildren, who were truly the center of her world. She was deeply loved by her family, friends, and all who knew her, and she will be missed more than words can express.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Eunice Poore Hayden; sister, Angela Kay; and grandson, Richard Marvin.
Survivors include her children, Nacole Taylor Woods, Kayla Taylor, and Derrick Taylor and wife, Cathy; sisters, Melissa "Lisa" Myers, Cheryl Regina Quillen and husband, Bradley, Marsha Smith and husband, Raymond; grandchildren, Blaine and Colten Woods, Kayce Jase Taylor, Noah and Dixie-Lynn Marvin, Katie, Gracie and Tate Taylor; several nieces and nephews, and a host of many other loving family, work family especially Samantha Peterson-LeMasters and Amanda Huggins, and many friends including her church family.

Family will receive friends Saturday, January 3, 2026, from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Plasterco Church of God, 6410 S Main Street, Saltville, VA 24370. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. with Pastor Chuck Williams officiating. Graveside services will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Derrick Taylor, Justin Smith, Michael, Landon, and Lucas Saddler, and Jacob Lamie, with grandchildren and nephews serving as honorary pallbearers.
