Chilhowie, VA Katherine "Sis" Dean Lamie, age 81, went to heaven on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at her home in Chilhowie, VA. She was born on May 9, 1940 to James Horton Dean and Mary Bradley Hicks in Chilhowie. She worked at DG and Marley Moldings for 30 years. During these years she was a good mom, and a good friend to many; Connie Hayden, Shelia Fullen, Dorothy Rickman, Charlotte Bennett, Lettie Meyers, and Della Umbarger. She was a faithful member of Christian Faith Ministries in Saltville, VA. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, James "Dopey" Lamie; sister, Frances Hayden; and brother, Paul Fred "Buddy" Dean. She is survived by her daughter, Judy Lamie Byrd and husband Dennis; two brothers, James Ralph Dean and wife Sue of Sessor IL, William "Bill" Dean and wife Cosby of Yorktown, VA; two sisters, Betty Haga of Chilhowie, VA, Mary Carrico and husband J.W. of Marion, VA; one granddaughter, Megan Hayden Wise and husband Mike; three great-grandchildren, Melody Thomas, Bailey Wise, and Clayton Wise; and many nieces and nephews who loved her like a mom. Special thanks to all of those involved in her care; Sister Mary, Debbie Haga, and Dixie Smith, Dr. McGlothlin, Nurse Pam, and Karing Hearts Cardiology. A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 27, 2022 at Henderson Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Halsey and Pastor Zach Halsey officiating. The burial will follow at the Elizabeth Cemetery in Saltville, VA. The family will be receiving friends from 1 until 3 p.m. prior to the service.
