Obituary

Loretta Jackson

Saltville, VA

Loretta Jackson, age 68, passed away unexpectedly on February 28, 2025. Born and raised in Saltville, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Imadell Jackson. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. Loretta was a sweet soul with a good heart, always quick to share a smile, a kind word, and a hearty laugh. Her friendly nature and love for joking around made her a joy to be around, and her laughter was truly contagious. She found comfort in life's simple pleasures — especially a good meal at Cracker Barrel. Those who knew her well would say she had a stubborn streak, but it only added to her charm. More than anything, she loved her family. Her granddaughters were her pride and joy. She cherished every moment spent with them, always showering them with love, and laughter.

In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, George Mitchell; two sisters, Bonnie Blevins and husband Homer, Mary Widener and husband Johnny; one brother, Walter Lee Jackson and wife Martha; brother-in-law, Roscoe Barrett; niece, Lisa Neice; and nephew, Richard Forester.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Julie Davis (Nick Evans); her granddaughters, Rylee and Tayllor; four brothers, Billy Jackson and Marlena, Ernest Jackson and Patty, Ricky Jackson and Linda, and Thomas Jackson and Sharon; three sisters, Doris Barrett, Hilda Forester and husband Carl, Linda Allison and husband Mike; special friends, Dana and Jimmy Chapman, Deborah Jones; special little buddy, Cadyn, who gave her the nickname Yah-Yah; and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at Pine Ridge Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends from 12:30 to 1:30 at Henderson Funeral Home prior to the procession to the cemetery.
