Lynda Necessary Watson

Lynda Necessary Watson entered Heaven's gates on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 after a long battle with dementia. She was a beloved wife, daughter, sister, mother, and "Grammy" as well as a trusted friend to all who knew her. Her intelligence, quick wit, love of music and laughter, and steadfast presence will be missed by everyone she touched, especially her loving family.

She was one of seven children born to Lee and Leola Necessary. She attended Tannersville Elementary School and graduated from Rich Valley High School in 1964. While there she met the love of her life, and future husband Bill Watson. After their three children began attending school, she returned to school herself and earned a degree from Wytheville community college, graduating Summa Cum Laude. From that point she was employed as an administrative assistant for multiple medical, law and county administrative offices in Virginia and South Carolina.

Lynda was a steadfast Christian and devoted pastor's wife, serving alongside her husband during his ministry until their retirement in 2011. They held pastorates with First Church of God churches in Broadford, Groseclose and Norton Virginia as well as Summerville South Carolina, where they served for almost 22 years. She was a talented vocalist who loved music and was always involved in the music ministry wherever she attended church.

Lynda was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Deanna Doyle, and precious granddaughter Sarah Pickle, parents Lee and Leola Necessary, brother Tommy Necessary, sister Elizabeth (Betty) Little, father-in-law Luther Watson, mother-in-law Agnes (Cricket) Watson, and nephews Reed Miller and Mike Roberts.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years William (Bill) Watson, Sr., daughter Lori Teaster and partner Jerry Breen, son William Watson, Jr., and wife Barbara, granddaughters, Hilarry Pickle and partner Eric Rhodes, Brenna Crabtree and husband Dorian, and Erin Teaster, great-grandchildren Keiren Woods and Gracelyn and Piper Crabtree, step-grandchildren Haley Lamie and husband Cody, Holli Carter and fiancé Eric Simmons and Dylan Carter, step great-grandchildren Mason and Bentley Simmons and Sayler Carter, sisters Janice Schupp, Judy Miller and Mary Lynn Murray, brother Gary Necessary and wife Gloria, special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jorita and Bobby Roberts, as well as several nieces and nephews and their children.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the following providers for their care throughout Lynda's treatment; Dr. Kristen Bresowar and Nurse Stephanie Roop who went beyond the call of duty, Staff at Saltville Medical Center, Wythe Hospice of Southwest Virginia, and Smyth County Community Hospital ER and Third Floor medical nursing staff. An extra special "Thank you" to the devoted ladies who helped us care for her at home for so many months, Dreama Neal, Donna Jennings, Brenda Smith, and Eva Vipperman. We could not have taken care of her without you.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Allison Gap First Church of God with Pastor Jeremy Dunn and Pastor David Mumpower officiating. The burial will follow at Ridgedale Cemetery in Rich Valley, VA. The family will be receiving friends at the church from 12 until 2 p.m. prior to the service.
