Mary Ann Gilbert Pratt, 82, passed away on Wednesday, September18, 2024. Mary Ann was born on October 4, 1941 in Saltville VA to herParents, Robert H. and Susie D. Gilbert. Mary Ann was a loving wife,mother, "Mimi" to her grandchildren and friend. She loved to readand to listen to all types of music (Elvis, Billy Paul and Nat King Cole especially), but her favorite pastime was sitting on her porch or underone of her shade trees and simply watching her beautiful valley. Shewas an excellent homemaker and cook, was a beautician with her ownshop for many years in her home and was proud of her employmentwith TRW in Marion VA. In addition to her parents, she was precededin death by her husband, Paul D. "Pete" Pratt; sisters, Elizabeth (Bill)Kestner and Geraldine (Gene) Mercer and brother Jimmy (Ingrid)Gilbert. Brothers and sisters-in-law Bill and Peggy Pratt, Frank andJenny Lamie, Buddy and Patsy Lamie and Bob and Carolyn Pratt.
Survivors include two daughters, Debi Jones; Dana Chapman andhusband Jimi; son Greg Pratt and wife, Beth, all of Saltville;
grandchildren Chaz Jones, Lindsey Pratt, Katie Pratt Alexa Jones,Lauren Pratt, Tristan Preece (and wife Jessica) and John Morgan Pratt;three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, September 21, atHenderson Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Klumpp officiating. Thefamily will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Saturday at thefuneral home prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow atRidgedale Cemetery on the Ridge in Rich Valley. Pallbearers will beher grandchildren.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Mountain Laurel Rehab and Nursing in Rural Retreat where Mary Ann residedfor the past 8 years; Lisa, Brittany, Mike, Alix, Jocie, Lori, Thelma,Cindy, Tina, Shannon, Anita, A.J., Catherine and a host of others whotook care of our mom like she was their own and we greatly appreciate the excellent care and love that she received while there.
In lieu of flowers the family would like to ask that donations be madeto your local public library, dementia/Alzheimer's research or a localcharity of your choosing.
