Matthew R. Moore, Jr., age 79, went to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, January 27, 2023 at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, VA. He worked at American Furniture of Chilhowie for over 20 years. He always took pride in taking care of his yard and home.

Matthew was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew and Mary Ellen Moore; his loving wife, Norma McGhee Moore; sisters, Thelma Wagner, Juanita Farmer, Lois Everett, Geneva Wright, Betty Harris and Ruby Gill.

He is survived by his loving daughter and caregiver JoAnn (Rocky) Wilson; son, Kenneth (Kelly) Moore; and daughter, Sandy Pierce; grandchildren, Brandon (Beth) Moore, Justin (Logan) Wilson, Kelsey (Aaron) McClellan and Dylan Pierce; great grandchildren, Madison, Ayden and Reid Moore; sister, Elsie Robbins; very special friend, Roger Blevins; and former son-in-law, H.A. Pierce.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at Henderson Funeral Home in Saltville with Pastor Jeff Carico officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Glade Presbyterian Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11: a.m. Tuesday prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Brandon Moore, Kenneth Moore, Justin Wilson, Dylan Pierce, H.A. Pierce, Aaron McClellan, and Rocky Wilson.
