Michael Dean Roberts "Fireball" Saltville, VA Michael Dean Roberts "Fireball", age 62, passed away on Friday, February 11, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was a graduate of R.B. Worthy High School, Virginia Highlands Community College, and Bluefield College. He was a former member of the Saltville Town Council, and also the Smyth County Board of Supervisors. He was proud to be a public servant helping others. Mike was a member of the First Church of God in Broadford. He loved walking, listening to music, and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jim and Nora Roberts; his maternal grandparents, Luther and Cricket Watson; special aunt, Christine Roberts Arnold; two uncles, Rudy Roberts, and Landon Roberts; and also beloved cousin, Deanna Watson Doyle. He is survived by, Cathy Carter Roberts; his daughter, Jessica Kopp and husband Taylor; his two sons, Christopher Roberts and Peyton Roberts; parents, Bobby and Jorita Roberts; one brother, Mark Roberts and wife Betsy; two grandchildren, Hudson and Henley Kopp; three nieces, Casey Brewster and husband Kyle, Nancy-Jo Roberts and Caroline Roberts; special uncle, Bill Watson and wife Linda; godparents, Tom and Judy Hess; several wonderful cousins; and many dear friends. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First Church of God Broadford Scholarship Fund. A celebration of life service will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Monday, February 14, 2022 at Henderson Funeral Home with Pastor David Mumpower officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 5 until 7 p.m. prior to the service. A burial will take place at the Elizabeth Cemetery in Saltville, VA at a later date.
