Michael Howard Shelton, Sr., age 55, passed away at his home on Monday, February 13, 2023. He was a loving husband, wonderful father, a great brother, and friend. He worked for Bland County School systems for several years. Michael also had a passion for racing and building his drag cars. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Frankie H. Shelton.

He is survived by his loving wife, Shelley Leigh Shelton; his six children, Nathan Shelton and fiancé Jasmine, Desiree Shelton, William Shelton and wife Jessica, Michael Shelton, Jr. and wife Jessica, Samantha Mitchell and husband Michael, and Alisa Loomis and husband Brandon; four brothers, Charles Shelton and wife Jackie, Jeff Shelton and wife Teresa, and Mark Shelton and wife Michelle, and Donnie Graley and wife Jamie; fourteen grandchildren; expecting two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2023 at Henderson Funeral Home with Pastor Daniel Duff officiating. The burial will follow at Cleghorn Baptist Church Cemetery in Chilhowie, VA with military honors rendered by the United States Army Honor Guard. The family will be receiving friends from 12:30 until 2 p.m. prior to the service.
