Montgomery "Monty" Stevenson Frye, Jr.

Montgomery "Monty" Stevenson Frye, Jr., age 59, passed away at his home in Saltville on Sunday, May 19, 2024. Monty was a proud graduate of Rich Valley High School and went on to serve his country as a member of the United States Army, 10th Mountain Division. He proudly served in Germany and Ft. Drum, New York.

Monty was an avid golfer, cherishing his time on the golf course. He was often the first person on the links on Sunday mornings. He also was exceedingly generous. He loved the outdoors, history, and the Virginia Cavaliers (although he could often be caught supporting the Clemson Tigers). He made a mean pot of chili.

Monty was preceded in death by his parents, Boo and Bobbie Frye; his wife, Dee Dee Frye; and his beloved sister, Debbie Call. He leaves behind his daughter, Brett Frye, and her husband, Trent McVey; his son, Zach Frye; his brothers, Steve Frye and Robert "Boo Boo" Frye; as well as numerous aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Monty also was a dear friend and loved by many. We miss him deeply, and he left too soon.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at the Saltville Golf Club. Military rites will be provided by the United States Army National Guard and the Marion VFW Post 4667.
