Obituary

Salem, Virginia

After a life of faithful service to his country and unwavering devotion to his family, Master Sergeant Weylin Bryan Weaver, United States Air Force, age 78, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.

Weylin proudly served for more than 20 years in the United States Air Force before his honorable retirement in 1990. Throughout his military career, he worked in highly skilled technical fields involving aircraft navigation, avionics, and electronic systems, including the B-1B. His dedication and accomplishments earned him numerous military honors and decorations, including the Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and several other awards recognizing his years of distinguished service. Weylin was a talented man who had a natural ability to understand anything electrical. He also enjoyed working Sudoku puzzles and keeping his mind busy. Music held a special place in Weylin's life. He loved to sing and often shared his talent at churches. In his younger years, he sang as a member of the Kings Four Quartet. His love of gospel music went hand in hand with his strong Christian faith, which remained an important part of who he was throughout his life. During their younger years, Weylin and his family enjoyed traveling together, making memories in the many places life and his military career took them. No matter where he went or what he accomplished, his family remained an important part of his life. In his later years, Weylin faced a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Through the difficult years, his family remained faithfully by his side, caring for him with the same love and devotion he had always shown them.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Charlotte Chambers Weaver; and daughter-in-law, Sarah Carpenter Weaver.

Weylin is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Glenda Armstrong Weaver; sons, David B. Weaver and Anthony Weaver; daughter, Janet Howard; sister, Phyllis Monical; four grandchildren, Jonathon Weaver, Lukas Weaver, Donyele Adkison, and Naomi McDorman; great-grandson, Wyatt Grenzebach; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Larry Hyler; and a host of other loving family members and friends.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Good Samaritan Hospice and palliative care at the Sheila S. Stauss Hospice House location.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 16, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Henderson Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Camille Moore officiating. Graveside services will be held Monday, August 17, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Mount Rose Cemetery Mausoleum, 10069 Crescent Road, Glade Spring, VA 24340 with Pastor Ray Wolford officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 a.m. for procession to the cemetery. Military rites will be rendered by the United States Air Force and VFW Post #4667.
