Nadine Poston Chapman
Saltville, VA
Nadine Poston Chapman's long goodbye ended in Abingdon, VA on May 24, 2023. Those rejoicing as they greeted her in heaven were her beloved husband, Morris; loving parents, Joseph and Grace Talbert Poston; precious grandson, Barry; loving brother, Clifford Poston and his wife Maude; two brothers-in-law, Howard Chapman and Alvin Belcher.
She was born on September 20, 1927, and experienced many things in her 95 years. She grew up in HenryTown, VA and continued to share memories there. She never left Saltville until the past four years where she was cared for at Abingdon Health and Rehab Center.
She served the Lord for over 70 years. As her memory was fading, church and God were still in her heart and mind. She attended Calvary Baptist Church. Her main vocation was taking care of her family. Her work outside of her home was in sewing factories. She was well known for keeping an immaculate home and well-manicured lawn. Dandelions didn't grow under her watchful eye. Her porch always had flowers and an American Flag hanging.
She was a devoted mother to her son, Harold and wife Mary of Panama City, FL and daughter, Shirley Meador and husband James of Vinton, VA; great granddaughter, Jamie Vargas along with her children, Jayden and Jenna who adored her. She regarded her two sisters-in-law, Dorrie Chapman of Princeton, WV, and Mazie Belcher of Welch, WV like sisters. She is also survived by Angela Chapman (Barry's wife); three nieces; four nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Her family appreciates all of the kindness from her hometown people. Also special thanks to the staff and nurses at Abingdon Health and Rehab Center; her caretakers, Linda Larmer and Darlene Fullen; many cousins; and numerous friends who did so much for her over the years.
Flowers are appreciated or donations may be made to Calvary Bible Church, P.O. Box 851 Saltville, VA or Chapman-Meador- Scholarship, Bluefield University, 3000 College Ave, Office of Institutional Advancement, Bluefield, VA, 24605, or Alzheimer's research.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Henderson Funeral Home with Pastor James Gentry, Rev. Kenneth Poston, and Rev, Wayne Poston officiating. The burial will follow at Mount Rose Cemetery in Glade Spring, VA. The family will be receiving friends from 12 until 1 p.m. prior to the service.
