Nathan Justin Havens Marion, VA Marion, Virginia. On April 3rd, 2021, our precious Nathan Justin Havens, age 36, went to be with Jesus. We will miss him so very much but we know where he went, because he loved Jesus. This comforts us greatly because we know that our being apart is only temporary and we will soon be with him again and spend eternity with him. Nathan was very unique in that he loved being his own person and marched to his own drumbeat. He enjoyed his tattoos, his piercings, and various hairstyles and hair colors throughout his teenage years and on into adulthood. From green mohawks to a shaved head, and various "looks" in between, Nathan was uniquely Nathan, and we will always celebrate and remember him for that. Nathan's life was full of highs and lows, triumphs and struggles. He dropped out of high school early but later earned his GED and graduated from ITT Tech with a degree in Computer Technology and worked in that industry until he became disabled. Nathan was a Type 1 diabetic from age five and eventually his kidneys failed, he was forced to go on dialysis, and the diabetes complications led to his early death. Despite this disability, Nathan found purpose in life and was able to give back. Shortly before passing, he became the Lead Hardware Tech for Wholly Yours Ministries. In this volunteer position, he repaired phones and computers that were taken to Africa and given to Pastors there that needed them. In addition to this, Nathan was an organ donor, and others lives were extended because of him. Nathan, we love you, we miss you and we will always remember you for who you were and the love you had for your family and others. We loved you through your triumphs and your struggles and we will always celebrate your life. We know you thought life was unfair at times, due to you having diabetes, and we know how much of a struggle it was for you to just get out of bed in the morning and go to dialysis. These struggles, even though hard, brought you closer to Jesus and for this we are grateful. Well, your struggles have ended, you have run the race set before you and you have won the race! We will never, ever forget you! Nathan is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Stafford Havens of Marion, Va.: step-son, Lawrence Medlock of Marion, Virginia; his parents, Paul William Havens and Stephanie Jones Havens of Abingdon, Virginia; his sister and brother-in-law, Sarah Avenir and Adam Avenir of Richland Washington; his maternal grandfather, William F. Jones of Abingdon, Virginia; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Nancy Sweet Jones of Abingdon, Va. and his paternal grandparents, Luther F. Havens and Lula Lamie Havens, both of Rich Valley, Va. A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday June 5th, 2:00 pm, at the Church of New Beginnings in Glade Spring, Virginia with Pastor David Gilliam officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridgedale Cemetery in Rich Valley, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, a perpetual memorial fund has been established in Nathan's honor.
