Meadowview, VA Oliver Michael Hockett, born August 21, 1956 in Saltville, VA, passed away Friday, January 29, 2021 in Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver F. Hockett and Gladys Henderson; grandparents, Hiram J. Hockett and Rachel Crosswhite, and Wayne Henderson and Leanna Snead; brother, Donald Cecil Hockett; half- brother, Paul W. Hockett; and half-sister, Nellie L. Cook. Michael spent his life mostly in Tumbling Creek and Meadowview, VA area, and attended Hayters Gap School and Patrick Henry High School. He is survived by half-brother, Thomas J. Hockett of Newark, DE, and siblings, Robert D. Hockett of Abingdon, VA, Rachel "Bess" Hericks (David), and Kenneth Wayne Hockett (Hope) of Saltville, VA.; a well as numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 1, 2021 at Mount Rose Cemetery in Glade Spring, VA with Rev. Roger O'Quinn officiating. Due to the COVID restrictions there will be a memorial service at a later date. A special thanks to his caregivers at Gregory's Rest Home and Johnston Memorial Hospital.
