Glade Spring, Va.

Ovella Carol Hunt, age 77, of Glade Spring, VA went to be with Jesus, on Friday October 21, 2022 surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Matthew Hunt, parents Gail and Exie Pearl Compton; sisters, Mazie Trent and Tammy Compton; brother, Phillip Compton.

Carol was a caring person who was strong in her faith and loved her church family. She worked for over 30 years as a seamstress for Buster Brown Apparel. She was an avid and dedicated quilter and loved her quilting family, making many wonderful and dear friends. She quilted hundreds of quilts over the last 25 years. She also enjoyed tending her flowers, long walks, going to the beach and spending time with her family. She will be forever missed.

Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Glenda Dempsey and husband Dennis, Lisa Ray and husband Todd; grandchildren, Gabriel Dempsey and wife Christina, Shealee Ray, and Cheyenne Ray; brothers, Paul (Joe) Compton (Virginia), Alfred Compton (Janet), Kenny Compton (Brenda); sisters, Cathy Hostetter, Gloria Delp (Bill); and special friend, Terry Cahill. Many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 23, 2022 at D. R. Henderson Funeral Home with Reverend Roger O'Quinn officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 prior to the services. Burial will follow in the Mount Rose Cemetery in Glade Spring. Pallbearers will be Chad Morrison, Brian Helton, Dennis Sykes, Douglas Mutter, Jimmy Furgerson, Johnny Fannon, Mack Holmes, Scott Johnson.
