Saltville, VA Pauline Virginia Coe Call, went to meet her Lord on August 14 at the age of 99. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Hughes "Doc" Call, her father James Edward Coe, Sr. and mother Irene Elizabeth Osborne Coe; brothers, James Edward Coe, Jr., and Robert Eugene Coe; sisters, Mamie Louise Call, Elizabeth Hill-Miller, and Ruby Lee Coe. She is survived by her son, Danny H. Call and wife Jane of Marion; one brother, William Soyar "Bill" Coe and wife Janice of Chilhowie; one sister, Mary Francis "Pat" Stewart of Virginia Beach; two grandchildren, John David Call and wife Jenny of Williamsburg, and Amy Lynn Murray and husband Steven of Middletown; and four great-grandchildren, Brady James Call and Maryn Elana Call, and Tristan Daniel Murray and Erik Josef Murray. Pauline began work as a teenager in a support of the war effort in the 1940's. She was among a group of working women that came to be symbolized by Rosie the Riveter. In the 50's and 60's she worked in retail in Saltville as well as managing two restaurants in the town. In the late 70's, until retirement she was employed by Supreme Mills in Chilhowie. She was a lifelong Methodist and regularly attended and taught children's Sunday School at Union Methodist Church. Flowers are appreciated or donations may be made to a charity of your choice. The family wishes to thank all of the doctors, nurses, and aides for the love and care she received during her stay at the Francis Marion Manor. A Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 with Pastor Donnie Bailey officiating. The burial will follow at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
