Obituary

Abingdon/Rich Valley, VA

Peggy Jean Cook Taylor, age 81, passed away peacefully at Commonwealth Senior Living in Abingdon on August 19, 2025. She was a faithful Christian and a dedicated member of Macedonia Church of Christ, where she enjoyed worship and fellowship for many years. Her faith was the foundation of her life and guided the way she lived each day.

Peggy was a hard worker who loved being outdoors, whether it was tending to her yard or spending time in the mountains. She was known for her meticulous nature and always carried herself with grace, keeping up with the latest fashion and presenting herself with elegance. At home, she kept her house spick and span, taking great pride in making it warm and welcoming.

Her family was the joy of her life, especially her nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly and followed closely. Saturdays often found her enjoying her RFD music programs, while during the week she could be found solving game show questions with her quick wit.

Peggy was full of love, laughter, and even a little spunk, which made her presence unforgettable. Above all, she cherished her family and loved them deeply. Her kindness, faith, and joyful spirit will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hobert H. and Virginia "Virgie" Cook; her brothers, Charles "Bill" William Cook, and Hobert H. Cook, Jr.; sisters, Mary Cook Sanders and husband Willis, and Patsy Cook.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 62 years of marriage, Charlie B. "C.B." Taylor, Jr.; her brother, Jim Cook and wife Toby; many special nieces and nephews; special great-nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Christine and Nyoka Cook; and her church family at Macedonia Church of Christ.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 22, 2025 at Henderson Funeral Home with Minister Ron Musick officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service. The burial will be following at Ridgedale Cemetery in Rich Valley.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Lee Cook, Davis Cook, Todd Akers, Randy Stiltner, Mark Burkett, and Denny Taylor with honorary pallbearers being the men of Macedonia Church of Christ.
