Ralph W. Prater, age 80, a longtime resident of North Fork River Road, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Myrtle Prater; sister, Mary L. Prater; and brothers, Roy and Elmer Prater.

Left to cherish his memory are his sister, Betty Hunt and brother-in-law, James Hunt; and niece, Rebecca Cook.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 20, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mount Rose Cemetery Mausoleum in Glade Spring, Virginia, with Pastor John Chapman officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made toward the purchase of a monument. Donations may be made through D.R. Henderson Funeral Home.
