Raymond Eugene
"Squirrel" Call
Oct 4, 1939 — Feb 9, 2025
Saltville, VA
Raymond Eugene "Squirrel" Call, age 85, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, February 9, 2025. He was born on October 4, 1939 in Saltville to the late Willie and Inez Harris Call. Raymond was always kind, loving, humble, and patient. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was not a person of great means, but was thankful for what he did have. He rarely became upset or angry and always had an easy going way about him. He was never without a smile, and he always had a great story to tell. During his life he had a wide variety of jobs and personal experiences. He was an ardent football fan, especially of the R.B. Worthy Shakers and the Northwood Panthers. He was also a huge fan of the Tennessee Vols. During his final years he loved attending church, reading his Bible, and praying for others. His personal testimony was the love he had for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by three sisters, Loraine Heath, Edith Cannon, and Carol Cregger; and three brothers, Bobby, Billy, and Doug Call.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 25 years of marriage, Patsy Call; his children, Eugene Call and wife Debbie, Gary Call and wife Starr, Sherry Snead, Joe Collins and wife Lisa, Tim Collins and wife Anna, Laura Geldenhuys and husband Bertus, and Gerry Collins and wife Courtney and Tina Collins; sister, Shirley Hayden; two brothers, Johnny and Roscoe Call; twenty-three grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at the Church of the Nazarene in Saltville with Elder Joe Collins officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the church from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service. The burial will follow at the Elizabeth Cemetery.
