Obituary

Roanoke, Virginia

Rebecca Jean "Becky" Duff, age 64, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 30, 2026.

Becky was truly one of a kind, full of life and a love that ran deep. She was bold and independent, yet her heart was incredibly tender, and she loved her family and friends with a fierce devotion that never wavered. Becky achieved her PhD and went on to teach physical therapy for several years, where she left a lasting impression on her students. Known as the "Duffinator" for being strict, but only because she believed in her students and wanted nothing more than to see them succeed and become the very best versions of themselves. Becky found great joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially shopping adventures with her "ladybug," Sarah. Whether she was thrifting, antiquing, browsing flea markets, or stopping at yard sales, she had a gift for finding the perfect treasure. More often than not, those treasures weren't for herself but were carefully chosen gifts for the people she loved, because giving to others was simply who she was. In fact, when it came to thoughtful gifts, Santa himself couldn't hold a candle to Becky. She was a genuinely kind, humble, and selfless soul who was always thinking of others before herself. Becky was one of her family's biggest supporters, standing beside them through every season of life. Even when she didn't always agree, she encouraged them to follow their dreams and be independent. She had a special way of comforting those around her when it was needed most. Becky was also deeply creative and artistic. She loved to paint, found joy in crafts, and could often be found relaxing with her adult coloring books, bringing beauty and color into everything she touched. In her quieter moments, she enjoyed reading old time vampire novels, watching British television (especially Bridgerton), and The Grinch. Today, Heaven is a little sweeter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Lillian Sessor Duff; sister, Karen Dale Oltendorf; and nephew, Daniel Dale Heath.
Rebecca is survived by her brother, Michael Eugene Duff and wife, Erica Dashiiv; niece, Sarah Lillian Duff; and cousin, Rebecca "Gail" Crusenberry.
