Rebecca Tuggle Harris, age 78, passed away at home, Saturday, July 8, 2023. With God's strength, her will and determination she surpassed most odds of a 9 year battle with Alzheimer's disease. She never met a stranger, and was known by Granny to all who met her. She was born in the middle of a snow storm on May 19, 1945 to the late James Henry and Bessie Mae Tuggle. On Sundays and Wednesdays she got up extra early to ensure she could ride the church van to pick up the neighborhood children. On the first and third Saturday she could not wait to greet people at the local clothes closet. As the disease progressed she continued to spread the love of Christ through songs and love. Her greatest blessing was all of her family.

She was also preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Edward Harris, several brothers, sisters, and grandson Curtis Harris. Left behind to cherish her memories are her adopted parents Josh and Kimberly Hale, who gave their heart and soul to take care of her; brothers, Nelson "Tick" Tuggle and wife Chris of Marion, VA, and James Tuggle and wife Ella Mae of Marion, VA; sister-in-law, Patsy Tuggle of Saltville, VA; brothers-in-law Doug Suits of Marion, VA and Mike Johnson of Saltville, VA; children, Sarah Call of Chilhowie, VA, Rebecca Bowman and husband Jerry of Ceres, VA, Randy Harris and wife Pam of Rich Valley, VA and Jason Harris and wife Lesia of Marion, VA; 11 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at Henderson Funeral Home in Saltville with Pastor Matthew Chapman and Pastor Jason Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the Harris family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.

Pallbearers: Joshua Hale, Chase Cardwell, Jerry Bowman, Jr., Remington Hadley, Jerry Bowman, Sr. and Keith Sinclaire.

The family would like to thank Melinda, Jen, Jess and all family members who helped with showing love and care over the years. Special thanks to Ballad Hospice group, and Dr. Ronna New.
