Reece Jr. Maloyed, age 81, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Reece was a proud veteran of the United States Army who faithfully served his country during the Vietnam War. During his military service, he was awarded the Purple Heart and earned the Expert Marksmanship Badge, honors that reflected his courage, dedication, and commitment to those he served alongside.

Above all else, Reece was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His love for the Lord and his family knew no bounds. He found his greatest joy in spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, creating memories that will be treasured for generations to come. Whether attending family gatherings or simply enjoying the company of those he loved, Reece cherished every moment spent surrounded by family.

In his spare time, Reece enjoyed fishing, playing rummy with his beloved wife, and tending to and admiring flowers of all kinds. Yellow roses held a special place in his heart and were among his favorites. He had a gentle spirit, a strong faith, and a loving presence that made everyone feel welcome.

His legacy of faith, love, sacrifice, and devotion to family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Maloyed; his three brothers, Manuel Maloyed, Jim Maloyed, and David Maloyed; granddaughter, Kimberly Griffin; and grandson-in-law, Hunter Reedy.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 56 years of marriage, Peggy Maloyed; three daughters, Tammy Jackson and husband Wade, Twanna Jackson and husband Nick, and Jowanda Lane; two sons, Greg Griffin, and William Griffin; brother, Frank Maloyed; grandchildren, Keith Jackson and wife Kayleigh, Cody Jackson, Bettina Reedy, Shane Griffin, Brandon Griffin and wife Ranae, and Kara Bankston; great-grandchildren, Eliza Jackson, Brooklyn Griffin, Braven Griffin, Kaedebelle Reedy, Brantley Reedy, Kaden Reedy, Easton Whitteker, Maddox Whitteker; and his fur babies, Fancey, Baby, and Lil Bit.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Henderson Funeral Home with Pastor Wade Jackson officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 12 until 2 p.m. prior to the service. The burial will follow at Ridgedale Cemetery with Military Honors rendered by the V.F.W. Post #4667. Pallbearers will be Keith Jackson, Cody Jackson, Shane Griffin, Brandon Griffin, Nicky Jackson, and Nick Jackson.
