Glade Spring, Va.

Reverend Loretta McClure Johnson, age 91, of Glade Spring, VA passed away peacefully walking through heavens gates in the early morning hours of Sunday, January 19, 2025.  She was born February 16, 1933 in Saltville, VA to the late Millard and Stella McClure.

Loretta was a God-fearing Godly woman, humble and kind to everyone.  She was a homemaker, minister, and pianist.  She worked at Saltville library and was a cook for Tastee Freeze.  She and her late husband Sam built a Church together, Johnson's Chapel where they worked side by side for 60 years.

Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Reverend Samuel C. Johnson; her son, David Johnson; daughters-in-law, Katherine Johnson and Betty Welch; siblings, Lois Olinger, Ledia Slate; Tommy McClure, and special sister-in-law, Dorothy McClure; and special aunt, Sadie Goodman.

Left to cherish and honor her memory is the last surviving member of her siblings, her sister, Sue West of Johnson City, TN; son, Michael Johnson, and daughter Glenna Sue Roark and husband Henry; grandchildren, Tina Richardson and Richie, and Dave Johnson and Carla, Kim Johnson, Crystal Millsaps and Mike, Loretta Denny and Matthew, Robert Roark, Sr. and Jessica; great-grandchildren, Nick Jackson, Jr. and Destiny, Amelia Johnson and Jacob, Stephanie Jackson, Abby Atkins and Matthew, Robert Roark, Jr., Zane Johnson, Isaiah Denny, Bradley Poole, Drake, Chase, David, Preston, and Allen Richardson, Elizabeth Denny, Ciara Roark, Sofia Richardson; great great-grandchildren, Arianna, Asher, Aurora, Billie and Kora Jackson, and Ava Brody; her special pet, "Killer".

Funeral services for Loretta will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at Henderson Funeral Home with Pastor Wade Jackson, Pastor Denny Mitchell, and Pastor Doug Ballew officiating.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.  Burial will follow at the Mount Rose Cemetery in Glade Spring, VA.  Pallbearers will be Nick Jackson, Jr., Robert Roark, Sr., Robert Roark, Jr., Richie Richardson, Mike Millsaps, Steve Pennington, Cody Jackson, and Matthew Atkins.
