Richard Zanic Spencer, age 56, passed away at his home Tuesday, April 8, 2025 surrounded by his family.

Richard was born in Clinchburg, Va. on December 3, 1968 to the late Zanic and Ruby Goff Spencer.

He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying fishing, hunting, kayaking, and studying nature.  He enjoyed teaching his three sons about the different kinds of plants, mushrooms and flowers.  He loved the mountains and made his home there for many years.  Richard was a very talented musician and loved playing music at South Fork Baptist Church where he attended and loved worshiping the Lord.  He enjoyed reading and studying his Bible.  Most of all, he loved his family and friends.

Left to cherish his memory is his three sons, Koda Spencer, J.C. Spencer and wife Katlin, and Chavez Spencer; sisters, Tammi Carter and fiancée, Doug Cullop, and Angie Spencer and fiancée, Jeff Greer; a special brother at heart who was always right by his side, Jeff Davies and wife Sandy; grandchildren, Memphis Spencer, Timber Spencer, Noah Spencer, and Angel Spencer; several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and cousins and friends.

Services for Richard Zanic Spencer will be private.
