Blountville, TN Robert Cowan "Bob" Gose passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at Ballad Hospice House after a lengthy illness. He was Born on July 30,1947 in Richmond, VA. Bob was a faithful and beloved member of First Baptist Church of Blountville, TN. He spent his entire career in Social Work for the City of Bristol, VA Social Services Dept. He retired after 43 years of service as the Director of Social Services for the City of Bristol, VA. He also served on several Boards including the YMCA, Boys and Girls Club, Speedway Children's Charity, and Santa Pal, all of Bristol. Bob loved South Holston Lake and had scores of friends there that he cherished and with which he enjoyed hours of relaxation and fellowship. He was proud to be a charter member of the Board of the South Holston Lake Cleanup which continues to this day. He was preceded in death by his Wife, Shelia Simons Gose, Parents, George and Mary Gose, Sister Maryann Barnes, Brother-in-Law Lee Barnes, an infant brother George Gose, and Sister-in-Law Jacqueline Simons Kelley. He is survived by his daughter, Kristan Oliver Mock, Son in Law Karl Mock, Grandchildren Ashlynne and Alexandria Mock, Father-in-Law William Simons, Brother-in-Law Lloyd Kelley, special friend Jett Dougherty, several Nieces and Nephews, and his beloved pet, Ram. The family would like to thank the staff of the Ballad Hospice House for the outstanding and loving care Bob received over the last week of his life. In lieu of flowers Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Blountville, TN or Ballad Hospice House. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday July 22, 2022 at the First Baptist Church, 3358 Highway 126, Blountville, TN with Rev. Clay Austin officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 prior to the service. A private graveside service will be held at Sinking Spring Cemetery in Abingdon, Va.
