Robert W Harris, age 85, passed away on Saturday June the 10th, 2023 at home in Saltville VA.He was born on April 14, 1938. He is preceded in death by his father and mother James andRosie Harris; brothers ,James Preston Harris, Tommy Harris; sisters, Virginia Dare Kestner, MaryLou Pauly, Margaret Nadine Robinson; and son,James Preston Harris.

Robert was a CPA and businessman who started his career at US Gypsum Company in SaltvilleVA, followed by many years in business at Moldings Incorporated in Marion VA. Upon hisretirement he became the owner and operator of Mountain Empire Airport in Rural Retreat Va. where he and his son Preston ran a flight school and local commuter service. Robert's passionswere flying, farming and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a lifetime member ofMain Street Christian Church in Saltville VA where he served as treasurer for several decades.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Rebecca B Harris; son, Robert Mitchell Harris and wifeJamie Harris; brother, Glenn Harris and wife Linda; Daughter-in-law, Cindy Harris Forrester andhusband Jay; four grandchildren, Stephanie Michelle Harris, Preston Mitchell Harris, CarsonElizabeth Harris, Walker James Harris; one great-grandchild, Gabriel Johnson; and several nieces

and nephews.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Main Street Christian Church or Saint Jude'shospital. Flowers may also be sent to the Dr. Henderson Funeral Home.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the Saltville Rescue Squad and Fire department.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at Henderson Funeral Home with Pastor Stan Dunham officiating. An entombment will follow at the Mount Rose Cemetery Mausoleum. The family will be receiving friends from 12 until 2 p.m. prior to the service.
