Saltville, VA Robert Blake "Powder" Frye age 80 went to his home in heaven Wednesday, September 1, 2021. Blake was born and raised in Saltville and loved his hometown very much. You could often see him at the post office talking with friends or sitting at the Wellfields fishing and reading his Bible. He was known by everyone in Saltville for his 41 years of dedicated service at the Saltville Post Office. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. Blake was as humble a person as you would want to meet. Blake was a true Christian, always putting God first in his life. He was a lifelong member of McCready United Methodist Church serving as church treasurer and usher. Blake was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and loved spending time outdoors fishing and playing golf. Blake was preceded in death by his parents, Lucky and Hazel Frye, brother, Lucky "Deanie" Frye, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Brenda Griffitts Frye. His son, Mark Frye and wife Mitzi of Saltville; two grandsons, Hunter Frye and Tyler Frye; two sisters, Cathy and husband Sonny Cahill of Saltville and Joye Blackwell of Bristol, Virginia. The family would like to thank his special caregiver, Cindy Roberts. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Henderson Funeral Home with Pastor Leonard Smith officiating. The burial will follow at Mount Rose Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Pallbearers will be: Hunter Frye, Tyler Frye, Jody Frye, Eli Carter, Luke Carter, T.J. Roberts, Tim Roberts, Adam Pugh, and Zach Sykes, and Honorary pallbearer and lifelong friend, L.T. Olinger. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to McCready Methodist Church, P.O.
