Robert Charles "Squirrel" Warren, Jr. of Saltville, Virginia, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on July 1, 1948, Charles lived a life marked by dedication to family, sports, and his community.  He was preceded in death by his parents, R.C. and Melva Jean Warren, along with many other cherished family members.

A proud graduate of R.B. Worthy High School's Class of 1967, Charles lettered in football, baseball, basketball, track and field, and fine arts. He continued his education at Tennessee Tech University, where he earned a degree in Physical Education in 1976. His passion for athletics extended well beyond his school years, as he played AA baseball and spent much of his life coaching, mentoring, and encouraging athletes of all ages.

Charles was also a devoted car enthusiast and could often be found working on his beloved 1966 Ford Mustang. He had deep appreciation for the visual and performing arts. He enjoyed painting and found great joy in creating portraits of family members and favorite scenic views. He will be remembered for his love of sports, music, good food, and, most importantly, his family.

Charles is survived by his daughters, Jessica Warren and Maggie Laney; his son-in-law, Nick Laney; his grandchildren, Kaiya and Jack; his sister, Nyoka Lamie; his brother, Jeff Warren; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Also survived is his best friend and aunt Hilda "Babe" Davidson.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Friday, June 5, 2026 at Henderson Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Warren officiating.  Burial will follow at Mount Rose Cemetery in Glade Spring with Pastor Dwight Henry officiating.  Pallbearers will be Charles "Pee Wee" Davidson, Kevin Swartz, Silas Warren, David Henderson, Tim Denton, Jack Laney, and Nick Laney.  The family will receive friends Thursday, June 4, 2026 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Henderson Funeral Home.
