Roby Glenford Hayden, age 86, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 19, 2026.

He was born in Saltville, Virginia on January 11, 1940, to the late Roby E. Hayden and Vergie Harris Hayden.

Roby was a proud United States Army veteran who served during the Korean War. He dedicated over 35 years of his life working at Royal Mouldings. Following his retirement, he continued serving others in his community as a Rehab Aide at Smyth County Community Hospital and later with the Smyth County Sanitation Department.

A man of strong faith, Roby loved the Lord and his family deeply. He grew up attending and was a member of Buckeye Hollow Holiness Church and later became a member of Highway of Holiness Church. He faithfully served as a Sunday School teacher and also ministered the Word of God for over 40 years, touching countless lives along the way.

Roby was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather, great-great grandfather, and friend. In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking, woodcarving, gardening, and fishing. He never met a stranger and will be remembered as a friend to many. His kind spirit, warm smile, and unwavering faith will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Lynn Hayden; his brother, Marvin Hayden; and his sisters, Myrtle Hayden, Minnie Griffey, Mabel Surber, Margaret Olinger, Mandy Shelton, Mary Sue Harris, Martha Lou Rutherford, Molly Terry, Rosie Griffey, and Pearl Cox.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 62 years of marriage, Doris Ann Hayden; his daughters, Melissa Hayden Parks, and Barbara Worley and husband Marc; two brothers, Thomas Hayden, and Charles Hayden and wife Nancy; sister, Darcus Harris; six grandchildren, Kimberly Adams and husband Terry, Hope Tate and husband Mark, Charity Parks, Emily Worley, John Worley and fiancé Hannah, and Braxton Worley; great-grandchildren, Joseph Atwell and wife Brooklyn, Madison Atwell, Sara Tate, and Micah Tate; great-great grandchildren, Maverick Atwell, and Mia Atwell; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Bro. Tommy and Sis. Lois Osborne.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Henderson Funeral Home in Saltville. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2026 at Henderson Funeral Home with Pastor Tracy Puckett and Pastor Wade Kestner officiating. The burial will follow at Mount Rose Cemetery with Military rites, rendered by the United States Army Honor Guard and the V.F.W. Post #4667.
