Saltville, Va. Ronald Dale "Big" Rolen, born September 2, 1956, gained his wings on November 30, 2021 after a long battle with cancer. He died at home surrounded by family. He went to his heavenly home to join the Lord and his mom, dad, and brothers. He was preceded in death by his mother, Vida Virginia Rolen Neal and father, William David Rolen; special step-father, Joseph Neal; brothers, William Rolen, Johnny Rolen, and Arville Rolen. He is survived by his daughters, Misty (Misty-Poo) and husband Bobby Evans of Rich Valley, Kayla (his BooBoo) and husband Robert Frye of Bristol, TN; the three ABSOLUTE LOVES of his life, his grandchildren, Michael Lee "Big Boy" Evans, Mikaela ShyAnne "Boogie" Frye, and Malikye Damian "Little Man" Frye; sisters, Patsy Parris, Shelby Owens (Punk), Sherry Moore (Steve), Tina Hunt (Randy); and several nieces and nephews; special friend, Garland "Baney" Hogston which was his mentor and a huge influence on his life. Before becoming ill, he took pride in being a police officer for multiple agencies but called Smyth County Sheriff's Office his home. Special thanks to Chilhowie Home Health and Hospice for taking care of our dad. Special thanks to Johnny Cregger, Barry Loupe, and Freedom Baptist Church for being our support system. The family will be receiving friends at the home of his daughter, Misty Evans, 4641 Bluegrass Trail, Saltville, Va. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at Freedom Baptist Church with Pastor Barry Loupe officiating.
