Roy Edward Havens, age 53, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at Johnston Memorial Hospital.  Roy was born on March 22, 1971, in Marion, Va.

Words that can describe Roy are humble, compassionate, charitable, and child of God.  While he was able, he worked very hard in the ministry of God working in the food banks, clothes closet, and the widows of ministry.  We cannot pick any certain date to say this is when his active life changed.  Roy's health started declining and no matter what new issue he faced, he did so knowing that God had a purpose for each day.  Roy would not want us to morn in our loss of him instead, he would tell us to rejoice in the fact that he has gone to join family in heaven.  2 Corinthians, chapter 5, he would remind us of if he was able to.  He would say, there is a time for everything in life and encourage us to smile when remembering him and to focus on our lives so that we can join him when our time comes and for us to keep our eyes on Jesus.

Roy was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Lucy Havens, and Robert and Mary Chapman.

Roy is survived by his parents, George and Donna Havens; two sisters, Miranda Haga and Rose Havens; two nephews, Tyler and Hunter Haga; one niece, Mary Parrish; great nephew, Liam Haga and great nieces, Zamara (Sam) and Ava Parrish.

The family would like to acknowledge Jamie Roark who kept Roy's spirits up and would like to thank the nurses and staff of Oibedi Health Care for the wonderful care shown to Roy.

Funeral services for Roy Havens will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at Henderson Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Haga officiating.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. prior to the service.  Graveside services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, November 25, 2024, at Mount Rose Cemetery in Glade Spring, Va.  Pallbearers will be Tyler Haga, Hunter Haga, Chip Havens, Dean Call, Bryan Jones and Jeff Call.

Music will be provided by Wendy Boyd and Jamie Roark.
