Roy Wayne McAllister of Chilhowie, VA passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026. He was born in Possum Hollow to the late Roy McAllister and India Jones McAllister on April 27, 1944.

Wayne was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved his Savior Jesus Christ, his church family, and westerns. He enjoyed the outdoors, and in his younger years loved hiking and camping and working outside. Wayne served three years in the Air Force, worked at Columbus McKinnon for more than 30 years, then at General Dynamics for 14 years. He then served alongside Libby as custodians for
several years at the First Church of God in Chilhowie, where they were faithful members for many years.

He was also preceded in death by his siblings Harold McAllister, Landon (& Dora) McAllister, Dottie (& Gerald) Davis, Herbert (& Norma) McAllister, and Stella (& Morris) Tilley. His loving wife of 60 years, Libby Coe McAllister, whom Wayne adored, passed away last year.

Wayne is survived by his children Tracy and Adam Lewis of Chilhowie, VA, Brian and Robin McAllister of Johnson City, TN, Amy and Daryl Cowan of Saltville, VA, and Heather and Ken Sullivan of Kingsport, TN, and "bonus" daughter Becky and Steve Bowman; grandchildren Andrew & Kayla Morris, Corey & Emily Morgan, Krista Cowan, Courtney Morgan & Brandon Sluss, Ashley & R.L. Davis, Noah McAllister & Leslie Barboza, Brandon Cowan, Mia McAllister & Gabe Woods, Chase Lewis & Hailey Graber, and Alex Cowan; great grandchildren Silas and Mia Morris, Summer Smith, Hendrix McAllister, Carson and Ryland Raddichi, Rylynn Davis, Colter Morgan, Emerson Sluss, and Weston Lewis; brothers Dallas & Mixie McAllister and Charles Gordon & June McAllister; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends Sunday, May 03, 2026, from 1:00 pm. until 2:00 p.m. at the First Church of God, 257 VA-107, Chilhowie, VA 24319. Funeral Services will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Pastors Bobby Dunn and Michael Rysko officiating. Burial will follow at the McAllister Family Cemetery, Possum Hollow Road, Saltville, Virginia, 24370. Military rites will be rendered by the U.S. Air force and VFW Post #4667.
