Ruby Irene Harris French, 90, of Tannersville, Virginia, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 5, 2025. She was born on October 14, 1934 to the late Thomas and Deborah Harris. Ruby was the heart of her family — a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother who helped raise generations of children with unwavering love, grace, and patience. A true nurturer, Ruby had a gift for making everyone feel seen, safe, and cherished. Her door was always open, and her heart was even wider. She was a woman of quiet strength and deep faith, a long-time member of Crabtree Chapel in Tannersville, where she worshiped faithfully. Ruby loved the Lord with all of her heart, and she lived out her faith in the way she loved others—fully, selflessly, and without condition. Ruby found joy in the simple, beautiful things in life. She was a talented seamstress and knitter. She also had a lifelong love for music and enjoyed playing the piano. Her legacy of love, compassion, and kindness lives on in the many lives she touched. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will continue to be a blessing to all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years of marriage, Thomas Eugene French; her son, Bobby Dean French; her grandson, Allen Rickman; and several siblings.

Left to cherish her memory are her two children, Diane Rickman and husband Johnny, and Kenneth French and wife Doris; sister, Bessie Phillips; brother and sisters-in-law; six grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at Henderson Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Andrews. The family will be receiving friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service. The burial will be following at Crabtree Cemetery in Tannersville, Virginia.
