Samuel Cecil "Hoppy" Lamie, age 75, passed away Friday, December 20, 2024, after a seven-year, courageous battle with cancer.  Hoppy was born July 10, 1949, in Saltville, Va. to the late Sammy and Ruth Lamie.  He was a faithful member of Glade Spring Baptist Church where he served in several various capacities.  He worked for the Ball Corporation and retired after 30 years of service.  His hobbies included golfing and old cars.

Including his parents, he was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ira Wyatt.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 53 years, Sarah Miller Lamie; one son, Tim Lamie and wife Lindsay; one daughter, Laura Lamie; brother, Bill Lamie and wife Ann; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Samuel Cecil "Hoppy" Lamie will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 23, 2024, at Glade Spring Baptist Church with Pastor Doug Ballew and Pastor Craig Stevens officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.  Burial will follow at Mount Rose Cemetery in Glade Spring.  Tommy DeBusk, Travis DeBusk, Tony Edmondson, Jim Swartz, David Rose, Joey Lamie, and Mark Miller will serve as pallbearers.  Sonny Roland, Charlie McCready, John Ritchie, and Men of the Glade Spring Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
