Sandra Stephenson Long, age 87, passed away Monday, December 15, 2025.

Sandra was born June 13, 1938, to the late Claude and Gladys Stephenson of Rich Valley. A graduate of Radford, Sandra received her M.Ed. at the University of Rochester and commenced a long career of sharing the joy of reading as an elementary school teacher. After a fortuitous meeting in Virginia Beach, VA, Sandra and her husband, Milton Ray Long, were married for more than fifty-five years. The family expresses hope that the memory of her quiet strength and gentle nature will be a blessing to those fortunate to have known her.

Along with her parents, Sandra is preceded in death by her brothers, Peery, Robert, and Roy Scott Stephenson, and sister, Peggy Stephenson.

Sandra is survived by her devoted husband, Milt; her daughter, Meredith "Nicole" Long Coker (Cooper); her cherished granddaughter, Eliza Legare Coker; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Locust Cove Presbyterian Church, 5762 Bluegrass Trail, Saltville, VA 24370 with Reverend Emily Edmondson officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgedale Cemetery, 1112 Ridgedale Road (Rt. 624), Ridgedale, VA 24370.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Sandra's memory to the charity of the benefactor's choosing.
